This is the latest version of my planet generation system (the original version was posted here a few weeks ago). Most of the changes are minor -- new star type table (with all types, not just the common ones), various bug fixes.

I've written a set of programs for generating stars and planets using this system; if anyone's interested I can mail you the source code (in C), or post them if there's enough interest (he says optimistically).
